This explains alot. If that is the lense through which you choose to see things no wonder your comments are so far outside the realm of reality.

Let me paraphrase another post, read elsewhere, which echos my issue with the Pope ... and his predecessor. The post was made in response to the Pope laying a wreath honoring Algerians who drove the French from Algeria:

If you have the time and inclination to honor the people who violently drove Catholics from Algeria, and you also find the time and inclination to condemn us for killing genocidal Islamist leaders, will you also find the time and inclination to condemn and lecture the people currently massacring Christians in Africa?

I am not at all comfortable by the manner in which Trump addressed the Pope nor in his presentation of a Christ-like image. I am often not comfortable with Trump and his endless mouthing of whatever is crossing his mind at the moment. But I am also not comfortable with the currents in the Church which aim at metamorphosing it into yet another facade of a Christian body.

P,S.

Another post, since read, paraphrased:

The Pope Leo cited Algeria as an example of "shared aspiration for dignity, love, justice, and peace". Algerian law make it illegal for Christians to proselytize to non-Christians.

Until, or unless, you are willing to read "Art of the Deal", you have absolutely, positively, no clue as to what you are talking about, and thus you have no leg to stand on.

The member Kage ar reached out to me a while back to warn against saying anything negative about Trump on this site. I thought that was a bit over the top. I have just found that Kage ar has passed away and my prayers for her soul go to heaven. I will remember that advice now. :amen:

Not touching on what Kelly may or may not have said as she is not here to defend herself, there is a bit of difference between merely "anything negative" and accusing the man of being bent on the annihilation of the world, don'tcha think? As I have said repeatedly, I am not Trump’s biggest fan, but the extreme position of hating everything he says and does and ascribing such insane motivations to him is frankly ridiculous.

(I do hope the last comment means you plan to stay out of threads involving American politics, though :amen: )

Honestly I did not consider even for a moment that he was portraying himself like Jesus since I've never seen a similar image of Our Lord. It just looked to me like Trump was implying that he had a healing touch like that of mediaeval kings.

To me it was reminiscent of some of the Divine Mercy images - particularly inappropriate on Divine Mercy Sunday.

When Trump misses, he misses. Reminds me of baseball, where a batting average of .300 is considered great. Trump bats about .600, perhaps the best ever. but he's not playing baseball.

I remember Pope John Paul II and President Reagan working together to obliterate the USSR.
Too bad Pope Leo XIV and President Trump couldn't work together to defeat the CCP. Would have been the last chance.

This is not an improvement.

Both need to step up.
