It reminds me of the Army -- every incoming Chief of Staff would decree, "We need more (standardization, professionalism, battle drills, what have you.)" For the rest of his tour the whole Army would be trying to figure out, "What IS standardization, professionalism, battle drills, what have you?"

Which explains why we make so little progress.

Here's a much shorter video(about 20 minutes) where he's describing something called Critical Pedagogy which is a type of education method that was created by Paolo Freiri to facilitate Marxist class-conscious in the classroom and which was expanded upon by American educator Henry Giroux.

One of the main characteristics of CP is the redefining of "literacy" as being "political literacy," and how you make this new sort of literacy happen is through invoking "generative themes" which cause controversy, which the sole purpose is to affect emotions like anger, fear, etc. regarding "people's lived experiences."

Like, say for instance, a kid is given math word problem where it asked a question about given x distance and y speed how long it will take Tommy's parents to drive from his home to the amusement park. Well, instead of solving the problem the teacher asks the students how many of them have been to the amusement park? Say half or less than the students raise their hands. Which then leads the conversation into questions of political inequality and the unfairness of why is it that only some kids can get to go to amusement parks and others can't. About how society should be more fair, etc.
