Ok will burn them.
Thank you for your patience as I build the board. I have about 1/16 to go.

You can also bury them in the garden I believe.

I already have so many tucked behind the crucifix on my wall it is in danger of falling off (ok an exaggeration maybe but it definitely doesn't need any more :-D ). I usually don't take one or leave it in the pew to be used for next year's ashes but both dh and ds brought theirs home this time. I know I can't just get rid of them because they are blessed but what to do?
Our diocese collects them a couple of weeks before Ash Wednesday and burns them for the ashes that are distributed.

Most parishes don't want them

It isn't.

You bring them back next year where they are burnt to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday.
What on earth am I supposed to do with them til then? Also I don't think I have ever been told to bring them back for collection at a later time.
We ask for people to bring their palms back usually in January or February.

You can also cut them up in pieces and bury them (I have buried palms around my favorite plants), or simply burn them yourself.

There are also a million crafts options

Speaking of the long liturgy, IIRC the homily is optional on Palm Sunday (it can be replaced with a moment of silence).
