What Have I Been Up To?
There have been a few distractions. Some time taking care of my mental and emotional health. Getting the house ready, not that I can do any of the physical work.
Meet Leon (pronounced the French way, Lay-oh, cos that’s how we get our snooty on in our house. He’s a 28 lb Snuggle King, also moonlights as a small shark if he has to poop, or he’s over-tired, or frustrated with his pet hoomans. Pure Rhodesian Ridgeback, male, he’s going to be a good-sized dog (110-130 lbs) 30 inches at the shoulder. He is my therapy dog, and eventually my service dog in a limited capacity. He’s already a beautiful thief— he’s stolen our hearts. One day, a long long time from now, he’ll break them, as our last Ridgeback, Ange, did.
He was born in the last week of July, and has twelve siblings. I’m on a WhatsApp group with the breeder and all the new pup parents. This is a new experience for us, and so far a good one.

Today was an unscheduled test for him in what he would do if I fell. I think my fall count could give Gerald ford a run for his money.
So I was pulling the slider to the back yard open and hit the floor. First, my hard head didn't break the glass--yay! Second, I didn't fall on Leon--yay! Then Leon smothered me with puppy kisses--awwwww. Then he went into puppyshark mode and started biting me cos clearly Poppa finally wants to play!!! So I curled up until that subsided and I pushed my wheelchair away, then pushed myself back from the slider and got up on one knee and he pounced on my back with great joy and knocked me back on my weak side. King Leon-idas is victorious!!!!1.
This is why training for that kinda stuff isn't going to be starting fo' a while.
I'm sore.

Oh dear! Hopefully he is a quick study so there won't be too much more puppy shark.

Thanks, everybody! The vast majority of the work is being done by my wife. Serious heavy lifting right now. On top of dealing with me, and our teenage son. Never tell her she doesn't even lift.

He's gorgeous! Keep us posted on his progress. I'm glad you have a hard head.
My two babies, Chloe and Charlotte, are four years, and 90-something pounds each. I've taught Chloe to stand still and let me lean on her while getting myself up from the floor. It's just practice, I haven't fallen in a couple of years. I'm Charlotte's emotional support human. She tries to put her 5 foot long body in my lap during thunderstorms. I'm 5'3".

Too late. Biden beat Ford like a bald-headed rock star years ago.

And here I thought you were a 6'8" Viking-rabbit!
