Re: Mater Populi Fidelis - Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles
Cardinal Fernandez made a statement today that he didn't mean to say the titles of "Co-Redemptrix" and "Mediatrix of all Graces" were being banned, that he meant they can be used in private devotion, but not in the liturgy. Exactly what I said, that the document says. If the doc...

Re: Zohran Mamdani
Are you implying he condones the attack? He has said that Muslims like his family were the "real victims" of 9/11 because they experienced "Islamaphobia" (which is not a thing) after the attack. This definitely seems to have the effect of minimizing the mass murder of thousands ...

Re: Mater Populi Fidelis - Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles
So you think John Paul II's use of the title was mentioned for the purpose of condemning him? And the long section giving the history of the theology behind the doctrine, mentioning several Church Fathers and canonized saints, was done to call them out as wrong? That is quite far from the most natu...

Re: AI Doomerism
I know astonishingly little about AI, but I have friend who is deep into it. I was bemoaning the death of cursive writing and the potential loss of a massive swath of history as humans lose the knowledge of how to read it (an other human created fonts). He stated that is was no problem since AIs al...

Re: Mater Populi Fidelis - Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles
In my part of the world, media simply carried the headline "Mary is not the co-redeemer, says the Catholic Church". Social media comments boxes had the usual unintelligent comments, mostly by Protestants and Muslims. "Finally, the Pope started reading the Bible", someone sent. S...

Re: Mater Populi Fidelis - Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles
The titles are not banned, but a course of prudence is encouraged, and the theology underlying these titles is by and large endorsed. Come now, I don't see how you can say "it doesn't seem like you've read it" and then say this - a lot more than prudence is encouraged around the title of ...

Re: Leo XIV publishes first major document of pontificate: Dilexi te
In the early period of his Papacy, it was rumoured that Pope Francis would write an Encyclical called Beati Pauperim (blessed are the poor), on the poor. Whether some such writing had begun as early, I do not know.

Re: Bishops need to address Trump immigration crackdown: Pope Leo
I fear there's a mixture of people with legitimate concerns, and actual racists. There was a video from an anti-immigration protest at Australia: an Indian-origin man, wearing a T shirt with Australia's flag on it, came up to the stage. He started speaking on how immigration is being more unrestrict...

I suppose that's true in very specific geographic regions.peregrinator wrote: ↑Sat Jun 14, 2025 11:48 am As an aside it is interesting how the new rite of Mass has more or less official music (Haugen/Haas/Schutte/etc.) and "art" (Rupnik).
They're not as rampant here.

It's shorter than a Pope Francis -ey exhortation. Perhaps Pope Leo wanted it so.

'Suppose you read in the newspapers that your enemy did something wrong. Then you read a correction later, that it wasn't him. How would this make you feel?"
Not the exact words but the meaning is the same. I think it was by CS Lewis.
Does anyone know where it is from?
