Re: Where Goes Leo?
Go to Rome and you will be amazed at the large number of habited (and young) nuns you see. While less common in the US there are orders such as the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharit that are thriving.

Re: "Partners in Crime" by Agatha Christie
I enjoy a good Agatha Christie mystery, though in TV or film usually rather than reading the books. Poirot with David Suchet (TV 1989-2013) is a particular favorite. Branagh's most recent versions are not bad except his Poirot is such a major departure from Suchet it is a little shocking at first.

Re: Can you recommend a good introductory level book on the rosary?
That looks interesting but still hoping for something that encourages the devotion. Maybe there is something for young adult male spirituality in general?

Re: Can you recommend a good introductory level book on the rosary?
That's a good one for me.
I am looking for something first in the "why" to pray it, then the "how to do it well." He knows the basics but could use something that would attract him to make time to do it.

Re: Can you recommend a good introductory level book on the rosary?
Yes, but I am thinking of something more geared towards the thinking of a college age male.

Re: Where Goes Leo?
It is certainly not obvious that he will continue in a manner similar to Francis. Francis clearly broke from the path B16 was on, and with hundreds of years of tradition in many cases as well.

Re: Dispensation for missing Mass on Vacay
I called my church and the dragon at the door….ummm on the phone…. I mean the Parish secretary said go have fun and go to confession when you get back. Seriously …. Is that what we do? I was going to ask for a dispensation but never even got to talk to the priest. I imagine someone in a better posi...

Oh yes I know about the lawsuit. The only thing that has surprised me about how it is progressing is how quickly the 9th circuit(!) slapped down the initial ruling. Headlines went from "Newsom won!" to crickets in about 3 hours.

Also one of the Golden Gate bridge supposedly so full of no kings protestors that it bent slightly under the weight that actually was taken in 1987 during an anniversary celebration for the bridge. Especially with AI you can't believe everything you see and hear.

That conclusion seems a bit premature. He is known to be an evangelical who is strongly pro life, yes, but he, again, also had "No Kings" material on him. Regardless of what his motives were his actions were obviously, glaringly wrong. If it comes down as retaliatory for the recent vote as...

Re: Smaller liberal arts colleges closing
I should have consulted Google before posting. :-D According to Google there are a few tech oriented colleges with minimal liberal arts requirements, but Cal Tech and MIT are not among them. So if you are looking for a tech school that's "all business" (if you will) I would cross those two...

Re: Smaller liberal arts colleges closing
That makes sense, but it is my impression that there are a few elite tech oriented schools like MIT and Cal Tech that are still pretty specialized. That doesn't mean they are immune to wokeness through things like dei, of course, and I haven't looked at those particular very closely, but I have pers...

Re: Mostly Peaceful
I wonder why we aren't hearing much about the group that stormed the Capitol. Seems like that sort of behavior elicited some serious book throwing treatment in the not so distant past. Hmm.
