"Most Pro-Life President EVER"

Post by Kage_ar »

I've heard this claim from many staunch pro-life people.

This seems like the safest place to ask those of you who are both pro-life and supporters of President Trump, does his statement today about protecting IVF make any difference?

He's not Catholic, and more to the point he's not theologically or philosophically capable. I don't have any idea what he said about IVF. I do know that he in fact was a pretty amazingly pro-life president. I also know that Biden's administration is fanatically pro-murder, apart from the other stuff they support, like mutilating children and other monstrosities. Trump's imperfections on the pro-life issue are real, but they're imperfections in a generally pro-life approach. I don't see the issue.

I'm not American so have no stakes in the game but compared to the political party that is wholly prolife, the American Solidarity Party, Trump scores poorly.

Here are the prolife principles they support.

It's true that Trump is the most pro-life president, at least since 1973.

Like I said the first time, not surprising, and a serious imperfection in his views. Doesn't in the very little least bit undermine the facts about his genuine pro-life credentials as President. I didn't vote for him in 2016 because I didn't buy the pro-life talk from him. In 2020, he was a no-brainer vote for me. Unlike many allegedly pro-life presidents, his administration was firmly and consistently pro-life. The standard isn't perfection. It just isn't.

I said 'many' but of course there have really only been 3 in my experience--Reagan, Bush and Bush. I dunno what the guys in the 70's were up to in the time surrounding Roe and such.

pro-life is just a part of it... There is absolutely NO reason anyone should vote for any current democrat politician, at any level, in the US. No reason at all.

If I were a citizen I would give them my vote 100%. I read a lot about Brian Carroll the founder back in 2016 and although not Catholic, his worldview and platform is so thoroughly Catholic.

I am glad that assistive reproductive services, IVF, etc are no longer something the pro-life world can wink at. These conversations about destroying embryos needed to come into the public square. I hope that destruction for research purposes is the next shoe to drop. There are well-meaning people who have not really considered the ramifications of these practices before.

The figures in IVF are that for every baby born from the treatment, approx 30 embryos then either don't survive thawing, are used for science or discarded as no longer wanted. The question is, how does the destruction of these embryo's differ morally from abortion?

The real issue is creating them in the first place. Even if IVF could be done with zero loss of life, it would still be immoral.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump- ... 024-04-08/

Decided by the States, that is different than his 15 week ban from last month

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump- ... 024-03-20/

But he is now saying he disagrees with a State's decision

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/arizon ... 0the%20law.

From here, it looks like Mr. Trump does not know what he stands for.

I recently read a fascinating interview with Joe Biden from 1974.

https://www.washingtonian.com/1974/06/0 ... rican-boy/
But when it comes to issues like abortion, amnesty, and acid, I’m about as liberal as your grandmother. I don’t like the Supreme Court decision on abortion. I think it went too far. I don’t think that a woman has the sole right to say what should happen to her body.
In my opinion Trump seems to waffle back and forth because he just says what he's thinking at the moment, rather than adhering to an unchangeable set of principles (he's kind of like Pope Francis in that respect). Biden, on the other hand, used to be somewhat "pro-life" but has gotten demonstrably worse on the issue in the past 50 years.
