The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the authenticity of a photo showing a soldier in southern Lebanon smashing a statue of Jesus with a sledgehammer, and said it would take action against those involved.
The statement, issued shortly after midnight on Monday, came after the photo circulated online. After the photo spread on social media, IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani posted on X that the military would investigate.
Following an initial review of the photo, the military said that “it was determined that the photograph depicts an IDF soldier operating in southern Lebanon.” “The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasizes that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” the military said. The picture was taken in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon. The IDF had operated against Hezbollah in the area surrounding the community.

Nope, Judaism is not a religion that desires to conquer the world and eradicate all other religions. Islam is. Jews have no desire to kill or convert all Christians; Muslims do. It's a pretty fundamental difference.

Notice the IDF investigated this and took immediate action. They didn't attempt to cover it up or justify it in some way. If this were perpetrated by a Moslem, he would have been lionized.

The IDF said Tuesday that two soldiers involved in damaging a statue of Jesus in southern Lebanon have been removed from combat duty and sentenced to 30 days in military detention, following an incident that drew international criticism.
The case occurred in the Christian village of Debel, where a soldier was filmed smashing the statue while another soldier photographed the act. The image later circulated widely on social media.

Sure it is but responding to IDF soldiers destroying a crucifix with lurid stories of Muslims using the Bible as TP is textbook whataboutism. And if Jews do not want to convert or kill Christians, it's quite odd that some of them react this way to Christian symbols.

Since a logical fallacy is being attributed ... whataboutism ... a new one to me, perhaps we should consider another ... cherry picking. Where the actions of a few, two in this case, are used to assert a broader population characteristic. It could be argued, I suppose, that a hasty generalization is in evidence.
